Do you know how to backup your WordPress blog?
If you do not know how to backup your blog it is imperative that you learn how to do that. You see, backing up your blog is a vital part in protecting your digital data. I’ll never forget the day I woke up and my blog was completely gone. I went to log onto the site and there was nothing.
There was just a blank template with nothing on it. I had thousands of posts on that blog and was receiving thousands of visitors per day. Plus, it was bringing in a steady stream of income for my business.
I was pretty anxious but I thought I would just go to my host and have them restore my blog to the previous day. Well, when I talked to my host they told me that they had not backed up my blog because there is too much data on it. So, I was pretty screwed.
Luckily, I had been making backups of my WordPress blog myself. So, I was able to easily and effortlessly get my blog back up and running within a very short amount of time. Now, if I would have never backed up my blog I would have been up the creek without a paddle. (So to speak) So, it is vital that if you do not know how to backup your WordPress blog you learn how to do that today. That is why I’ve put together this video tutorial showing you exactly how to do it and what plug-ins to use.
The plug-in I talk about in the video is called the WP DB Backup plug-in. You can get it by simply clicking the link that I have in the name of the plug-in. Or, you can follow the instructions in the video above that show you exactly how you can upload the plug-in from your own dashboard. It makes it easy and only takes a couple of clicks of the mouse.

It is easy to backup with this plugin, but I don’t know how to recreate the site with the backup, can you please make a video to explain this, how to recreate the blog with the articles.

Good post, Shannon, and much appreciated. I recently had to move my WP blog and was lucky to find the WP-DB-Backup utility you mention. It is so easy to use! It’s just a plugin and does the job very handily. However, now that my blog is moved to my new host, I see all my posts and comments are OK, but my formatting/theme is all gone, not to mention all the hard work I did to create ads and special features. Where did that go? How do I get it back? Or, is that lost?
I’m with David on this… could you do a video on how to recover using a backup?
