With the passing of a true personal development legend, Jim Rohn on Dec. 5 2009, I really started to dive back into his teachings. Something I should have never strayed away from in the first place. And I started remembering why I do what I do. Besides Zig Ziglar, no one has effected my life more in the field of personal development. But, as a marketer one quote stood out to me.
“We get paid for bringing value to the market place.”
You see, all to often I see people bringing products to the market place for the sake of just bringing products to the market place. I think sometimes the “value” part of that deal is missed. It is a shame. I particularly see this happening the most in the make money niche and more specifically the Warrior Forum. The bad thing about this is it is an acceptable practice. I can remember many times popping on to the forum and seeing a post with the title “my first $300 dollar day” for example, and getting excited for that person. The after opening the thread just shaking my head in amazement. You see all to often those stories go something like this… “I have been trying to make money online and couldn’t… Until I launched my first WSO and I made $300 in 24 hours”
OK, good for you. Then I check out the WSO and the person is selling a WSO about how to make money doing… Here is the bad part, the thread is full of people congratulating the person. That is were the circle starts of WSO after WSO with the same people coming in and giving great feedback for there buddies, posting positive reviews to get the ball rolling. It is a shame the forum has fallen to such a level. Anyway, lets get back on track.
The problem with the above scenario is 99% of the time it does not alow the the individuales runing the WSO’s an opertunity to build true businesses. Why is that? Because the value is lost. Their products would not hold up in the “real” market place. With out the value you limit yourself to mediocraty.
It is easy to hype a product and make a quick buck from people desperate for a magic pill. People shop with blinders on when they are desperate. And most are bind to what true value is. So, even with the positive feedback is the product of any value? Even if your only putting it into a good presentation and make it “seem” valuable, those who do not know any better are going to claim it is valuable.
So, the person is stoked because they are Finally making money online and are getting great feedback from those who don’t know any better. So they do the only logical thing… Do another WSO about how you can be a complete newbie and know nothing about making money online and kill it on the WSO forum. And the problem perpetuates!
But what happens when you no longer have that one advertising source? Well, your business goes down in flames and your back at you JOB, becuase you have not provided real value and developeted a bunch of mediocer products that were amined to make a quick buck from a customer that just wants to make a quick buck. No value, no business.
So here is the point…
In some instances you can bring a quick fix mediocare product to the market and make a quick buck. Shot, you can even get rave reviews from those who do not know better, but in the long run… Well, you will be right back were you started. Wondering what went wrong. I am preaching this because I know many of you that are reading this will vsit the Warrior forum and I do not want you to get drawn in to the trap. You will find many products online and on the Warrior Forum that will tell you to creat a product to sell on the WSO board to make some quick cash. I am asking you not to fall into that trap!
Build a business. Not a product for the WSO forum. It does not matter how much you have “researched” the make money technique, or how much your friend has made from it. Do not teach people how to make money online, if the only way you are making money online is buy teaching peope how to make money online. Excpecially if the only way you know how to make money online is running a WSO.
I think Jim Rohn nailed it when he said “We get paid for bringing value to the market place.” But I think it needs to be exponded on a little bit for the money hungry volchers out there, and the honest people that fall into the trap…
You can make some fast cash bringing what appears to be a good product to people that dont know any better, but you will only get paid consistently into the future for bringing TRUE value to the maket place.
Talk soon,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,
Great, GREAT post! Very well written and thought out. I have been following the new WSOs lately and even bought a few. I could sense something wrong though and I’m glad I found your site.
Good training can not be bought for $17 {average WSO price}. If the product were THAT amazing, it would be fair to push it for a few hundred at least, don’t you all think? Or you would keep your so-called “secrets” about making money online to yourself.
Keep it real,
Vince
