Building a list with your blog

List building is often over looked by most marketers, but is an essential element of a successful business. Many bloggers will tell you that they are making plenty of money from there blog without building an opt-in list, but they are really leaving a ton of money on the table.

I like to look at a list as not only an asset, but also a traffic generation tool.

You can literally send a flood of traffic to any site you choose once you build a big enough list. That is power.

So, today I want to give you a few tips on how you can utilize your blog to build an opt-in list.

First, lets talk about how to get the opt in. You can “bride” the prospect for there information. Basically, what that means is you will give something away to the visitor in exchange for there information.

This is my favorite way to build my list on my blog. I give away a free report that is packed with content, so the “bribe” is well worth the information the visitor has to give.

Next is placement. You need to place your opt-in box above the fold. That means the visitor should see your opt-in box without needing to scroll down the page.

Placement is one of the most important aspects to archiving a high conversion rate. If you go below the fold you are going to absolutely destroy your conversions. If you place the opt-in box above your conversions will increase. Now, I want to give you a little secret that will absolutely explode your opt-in rate. O.K, this is big, so do not discredit the information because it is free.

Put your opt-in box on the top right hand side of your blog. This will just explode your conversions.
